A Laid-Back Millville Engagement Session with Allison & Pat
There’s something about an engagement session that feels less like a photoshoot and more like hanging out together that I will always love. Allison and Pat’s Millville engagement session was exactly that, an open field in the middle of summer, their Jeep, a couple of High Noons, music playing, and plenty of time to just enjoy being together. These two found love again after loss, which made getting to document this season for them feel extra special. Nothing needed to be overcomplicated because their connection and the way they naturally have fun together did all the work!
A Millville Engagement Session That Actually Felt Like Them
One of my favorite things about this session was how much personality we were able to bring into it. The Jeep wasn’t just something sitting in the background, it gave them somewhere to hang out, lean into each other, laugh, and made the whole evening feel more like something Allison and Pat would actually do together. Add a couple of drinks and some music, and suddenly we weren’t trying to create moments for photos, the moments were just happening.
That’s always my biggest encouragement when planning engagement photos: bring pieces of your real life into them. You don’t need a ton of props or an elaborate setup. Sometimes your favorite vehicle, your go-to drink, or a playlist you both love is more than enough to help you loosen up and forget there’s even a camera around.
Summer Evenings Were Made for Sessions Like This
The open field in Millville was such a simple backdrop, but that’s exactly why it worked. As the sun got lower, everything turned warm and golden while Allison and Pat danced, walked through the field, snuggled up, and laughed their way through the evening. We also switched up their outfits along the way, which gave the gallery a little variety while still keeping everything relaxed.
And honestly, that’s what I love most about these sessions. Engagement photos don’t have to mean getting dressed up and spending an hour trying to pose perfectly. Allison and Pat’s Millville engagement session was playful, comfortable, a little flirty, and completely theirs, and those are the kinds of photos that end up feeling the most like you!
